Often referred to as the “dancing bear” for its ability to stand on their hind legs with ease, the moon bear is distinguished by its long black fur and a yellow crescent across its chest. These omnivores are found across Asia, living in heavily forested mountains, hills, and tropical rainforests spanning from Pakistan to Japan. Unfortunately, the moon bear population faces extinction due to habitat loss through deforestation, human exploitation, and illegal hunting, with bear bile being an ingredient used in traditional Chinese medicine.

Finally Found a Fragrance I love!

Because I'm not a fan at all of sweet, floral, or fruity fragrances, I decided to give this a try. So glad I did. It
will be slightly strong when first applying but gradually softens into a musky delightful earthy scent. I can still smell it on my skin hours later. I love the name for this fragrance as well.

Musky and unisex

Compared to the other new release smells, moon bear is a neutral musky scent. If you’ve ever been deer hunting and use scent wafers, it smells quite similar to the earth scent. It’s a mix of smoke and eucalyptus almost. It would definitely layer well with some other intense smells! As always, much love to sanctuary and their goals!

Leans Masculine

On the basis of the notes, I thought that this would be a very unisex scent. However, it very much smells--though beautiful--like a men's cologne. However, as a person who prefers unisex or feminine-leaning scents, it's not quite my vibe. I will say that the cedar and lavender are the most prominent notes; the sandalwood is decidedly *not* vanillic (as it usually is). The cardamom adds a bit of spice, but is a dry cardamom (not at all sweet). I'll need to layer this with other scents to get it more firmly toward the unisex center.

I absolutely love this scent! I actually got the trial bottle from scentbird, and I think I’ll be buying myself the larger size directly from the company to support the cause after trying it out. I love the way everything comes together, the relaxing scent of the sandalwood, cedar, and lavender paired with the slight spice of the cardamom make for such a wonderful fragrance.
